After 10 years, the Lok Sabha will have a Leader of the Opposition (LoP) as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi assumes the role. The Congress, despite being the secondlargest party in the Lok Sabha in 2014 and 2019, could not claim the position as it had less than 10 percent of the total seats in the Lower House.

An opposition party needs at least 55 seats to claim the post of Leader of the Opposition in the 543member Lok Sabha.
