This lecture will discuss traditional file processing systems and their disadvantages.
Traditional or simple file processing is the first computerbased method for business applications. In the past, many organizations stored data in files on tape or disk. The data were managed using a file processing system.

Some important disadvantages of the file processing system are data redundancy, data inconsistency, data isolation, Program data dependency, security problem, and atomicity problem.
