The Mazda6 was one of our favorite cars from the Japanese brand. It was a stylish, spacious, and funtodrive midsize sedan that offered a lot of value for money. But sadly, Mazda decided to cut it from the North American market in 2021, along with the small CX3 crossover. The reason was simple: low sales and high competition from SUVs and crossovers.

The most shocking news is that the new Mazda6 will be an FR sedan, meaning it will have a frontengine, rearwheel drive layout. This is a huge departure from the traditional frontwheel drive platform that Mazdas have always used. This also means that the new Mazda6 will be aimed at the premium segment, just like its crossover siblings, the CX60 and the CX90.

The new Mazda6 is expected to debut in fall 2025, which is still quite far away. But we are very excited about this project and we hope that Mazda will deliver on their promises. The new Mazda6 could be a gamechanger for the brand and for the sedan segment in general.
