Fires raged across northern Israel on Thursday after Hezbollah launched more than 200 rockets and explosive drones towards Israel in retaliation for the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander on Wednesday.

Israeli firefighters battled the flames, hoping to stop them from spreading further.

This week’s crossborder fire followed months of increasing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah since 7 October. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the events on Thursday, saying that whoever would harm Israel “will pay the price”.
