Between 2017 and 2021, an average of 660 foreign workers were banned each year from working in Singapore because they submitted false education records. The Manpower Ministry is now making it compulsory for firms to get a thirdparty to verify their applicants' qualifications. This will apply for diplomas and above. Specialised roles in key growth areas, like tech, healthcare and sustainability, will also be included on the new Shortage Occupations List.
