From June 2nd, 2024. So extremely glad to have gotten my first opportunity this year to see one of the older but still classic Amtrak P42’s now in the new phase VII paint scheme actually leading on Amtrak 21 the southbound Texas eagle on a Sunday evening from Chicago going to San Antonio. Here’s the first of the two videos I took of it. This is the train it was leading on aka Amtrak 21 arriving into its next station stop of Saint Louis gateway station. I’m at Cerre street as usual to watch it come in. I absolutely love this new phase VII paint job seen on P42 number 69 here. Way better than the regular painted P42 number 55 that’s trailing it and facing backwards. Tonight’s Amtrak 21 has the usual 5 superliners with the last car being the cutoff car for here in Saint Louis for Amtrak 22 to take back north to Chicago the next day. This train showed arriving into Saint Louis at 7:38 pm 31 minutes late. My friend Robbie Welsh also showed up here just in time to watch it come in too. And yes, upon its departure from here at 8:00 pm 18 minutes late, we did go and see this train again one final time on the oak hill portion of the Union Pacific Desoto sub at Shaw avenue with my friend Scott Nauert and I got that on video too for you all. This new and way better and colorful phase VII scheme is the very same scheme as the newer Amtrak ALC42 long distance Siemens charger locomotives have been painted up in since about a year or so ago. Hope you all like this first of two videos by me. Feel free to comment on it too. Enjoy! Jason.
