First patch with MI's Tides. Modular patch notes for my piece Taken at the Flood

Follow
Tom Hazledine

A step by step breakdown of my first patch using the Tides eurorack module from Mutable Instruments. This walkthrough covers how the patch was made, from the pure tones of Tides through to the FX chain and how it was all mixed together to be "performable". I've learned a lot from other modular synthesiser tutorials, so I hope these patch notes can help demystify the process of patching a modular synth for other people (or at least be mildly interesting).

This patch took off on TikTok, so I gave it a name ("Taken at the Flood") and released it! You can download the short version of the music from this patch for free on my Bandcamp page: https://freezethem.bandcamp.com/album...

The full album also contains some other ambient pieces including a longer performance of this patch.
