First Time Doing IPT Low-dose Chemo

Well, it’s begun! I’ve officially started cancer treatments and so far, so good. I had a port placed in my chest, which was not as bad I imagined it to be.

Today I had my first session of IPT lowdose chemotherapy. It was a wild experience, to say the least. I sat in a recliner chair as a nurse administered each drug in the protocol. The whole session was super fast – about an hour total.

Going into it, I felt so many things. On one hand, I was eager to get the treatment going. At the same time, I was a bit nervous about having some serious drugs pumped into me, and how my body would react. Would I feel normal? Would I be able to feel the drugs flowing through my body? So many questions swirled in my head.

To protect my nerves from damage (an unfortunate sideeffect from the drugs), I had cold packs placed on my head, hands and feet. Holy moly, this was probably the hardest thing about the treatment. My hands were particularly painful, eventually going numb.

Overall, I seemed to tolerate the treatment well. Afterward I did have some nausea, but nothing too terribly bad. In the evening, I had a decent appetite and had dinner without problems.

Feeling good about my treatment overall, and staying focused on healing my body. Thanks to everyone for your kind messages of encouragement and support. I’m so grateful to have such amazing people rooting me on. Deepest gratitude from the bottom of my heart.
