My 12 teacher tips for FYT's!
1. Don’t go crazy on school supplies
2. Write down everything you try and immediately take notes if you liked it or not for future years
3. Write out all lesson plans DIGITALLY! Easy to edit and go back to!
4. Borrow borrow borrow your first year (books, activities, everything!)
5. Observe other teachers even if it isn’t required!!
6. Go back to those routines, rules , procedures MORE than what feels necessary—even if you feel like your students have it down. You’ll never regret spending too much time on your classroom community!
7. Save everything to your personal google drive (in case you move)
8. Share what you create/ideas you have/products and resources you buy with your team!
9. Don’t tie down to a clique or get into the drama (stay neutral, find people you can trust, don’t vent to people at work)
10. You don’t need a matching room/decor bundle (take whatever teachers give you, salvation army, thrifting, facebook marketplace) If you try it for a year and don’t like it, you don’t want to be in a huge money pit
11. Advocate for trainings (curriculum)
12. Don’t dive in head first on extra curriculars and more responsibilityprioritize mental health that first year because you WILL be tired!

Let me know if y'all want a part two or have specific questions you want answered next time!
