I first set eyes on a vintage De Havilland Tiger Moth aircraft at Gawler gliding club near Adelaide with my planemad, aero engineer late Dad in 1966, when I was five. I tried to get him into one for a joy flight in 2012 but the cancer made it too uncomfortable (did get him up in a Bonanza though). Now over 55 years, one pilot’s licence, and a few other things later, my son bought me a flight in one out at Lilydale airfield. What a blast to finally fly in a “Tiger”!! Thanks Spence.
