How can lymphadema be treated through surgery and do all patients of Lymphedema need surgery. To answer the second question first no all patients with lymphedema do not need surgery a large number of them can be managed with simple procedures that is nonsurgical management. One is known as manual lymphatic drainage. The other one is use of compression garments they are present both for the lower limb as well as the upper limb with these a majority of the patients with lymphedema can be managed. However there is a section of people in whom inspite of all the surgical procedures they do not get relief and the lymhedema is Progressive in such people they require surgery. Different kinds of surgeries are there one is known as a lymphovenous anastomosis. The other one is a vascular lymph transfer in certain case debulking procedures where a wedge of skin is removed or in some cases where there only a fatty liposuction will help your surgeon can examine you and tell you which is the right procedur. Mmaybe only one procedure or a combination of procedures which may be required to treat your
lymphedema.
