This understanding starts with the harmonic series, a musicalmathematical principle that governs the registers of the flute.

In this video, we use the harmonic series to divide the range of the flute into fundamental pitches (low register), 2nd partials (middle register) and upper partials (high register). Next, learn about how to use air velocity, air volume and air pressure to make each flute register sing. Finally, I troubleshoot some common problems with each flute register.
