FlyHawk's SBD3 Dauntless in 1/72 scale is a great kit with lots of detail and a very good fit. Until now I had no experience with FlyHawk as a model building brand but I was very positively surprised.

The aircraft can be built with the landing gear and flaps extended or retracted. There is also the option for open or closed canopy and an extended or recessed rear machine gun.

The building instructions are in color, canopy masks are included. The decal sheet provides ample opportunity for one of the famous or not so famous aircraft from the Battle of Midway in June 1942.

My choice fell on the SBD3 from Lt. Richard H. Best (VB6 | USS Enterprise CV6).
To create a typical Dauntless diving scene I used a 3d printed stand, acrylic rod and resin figures from PJ Production.

I had a lot of fun building it and can absolutely recommend the kit. Enjoy the build, paint and weathering process and feel free to leave a comment.
