Flying the 1946 Skyvahl

The Skyvahl was kitted in 1946 by the Vahll Engineering Co. (They are still in business as of 2024). The frame was all made from aluminum. It has a wing span of 60 inches. This one was built by Dan Banjock. The engine is a Fhantom P30 converted to glow turning a 10X6 prop. The wing is covered with Monocote. Wood had to be glued to the under camber sections of the wing to allow the covering to adhere. The first flights took place in Aug 2023 but we ran out of day light and there were some minor repairs to be made. It took 8 months before we got back out the in April 2024. It took several trim flights to get it worked out. The 11th flight was outstanding and we just got it in before dark.
