Royal TV - Rick Evers

n the morning, Princess Beatrix visited the Neptali Henriquez Park playground. Since 2010, volunteers and various initiatives have been committed to maintaining, renovating and expanding the playground. This is how decay is prevented. The playground is an example for other playgrounds that Jantje Beton wants to realize in Aruba, in close collaboration with Aruban social organizations. The foundation wants to renovate playgrounds at various locations in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, so that they meet safety requirements and children can play outside safely again. Princess Beatrix is patroness of Jantje Beton.

Princess Beatrix then visited the head office of Telefon pa Hubentud, the Aruban children's telephone. The organization will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. The Aruban children's telephone line has now become so successful that children and young people from Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba also call for a listening ear. Beatrix speaks to employees and volunteers and receives an explanation about the foundation's work and projects. Then Beatrix drives on with 'her bus' to the governor of Aruba, Alfonso Boekhoudt, who offers lunch at Cas Ceremonial.
In the afternoon she goes to the Spanish Lagoen, a wetland and nature reserve with mangrove forests. Here, employees of Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba (FPNA) present the 'Turning the Tide' project, a climate adaptation and nature restoration pilot project. The project takes place in collaboration with the University of Aruba, ScubbleBubbles Foundation and Wageningen University & Research and is made possible by funds from the EU program RESEMBID. Channels are dug in the silted mangrove forests to collect silt, with the aim of restoring the water quality and nursery function of the mangroves and protecting the nearby coral reefs. In addition, work is being done to restore the coral reefs by installing two types of artificial reefs. During a short walk, the princess will receive an explanation of the importance of mangrove forests and coral reefs for nature recovery and biodiversity.
