I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. I've got a backlog of builds to get videos together for, so hoping to be uploading more frequently. As soon as I saw the announcement of the 6 inch scale Snowspeeder, I knew I wanted to build something around it. I had originally planned to make it into a multirotor, but when I got it in hand I realized it was just a bit too heavy to be practical. Instead I did a car based build, which ended up capturing the ground skimming nature of a speeder pretty well, and allowed me the mass margin for lots of extra details. I went with a full FPV cockpit, including moving controls and head tracking. The chassis is based around the WLToys 1/18 scale buggy, with modifications to the suspension to accommodate the extra weight and attachment brackets to mount to the speeder. I added a plastic skirt around the chassis, so that the drive components are not visible while it's skimming around. To complete the recreation of Hoth, I dug my inflatable ATAT out of storage, it's just about the perfect scale, and makes for a fun obstacle to try to drive around. The driving experience is super immersive, and since it's based around a car, it's pretty easy for folks to try out. I've got one other ground based FPV project in the works, but that will have to wait a bit :)

As with all my builds, this is strictly for fun. I do not intend to sell any sort of kit based on this project, although I will be glad to answer questions about the build, and help anyone who is interested create their own.
