Still trying to get back to uploading more regularly. This is a project that has been sitting in a state of mostly done for a long time, and I finally got to finishing it up. Trying out a bit of a different format for the video, let me know if you want to see more like this, or generally more RC car/boat stuff.

I really enjoyed the FPV snow speeder build, and given how fun that was to drive around, I knew I would eventually want to make a speeder bike in the same way. I really wanted something that would bank like the the "real" ones, and after a bunch of searching and some failed experiments with modifying an RC motor cycle, I came across the Tamiya Dual Rider. The tilting tricycle chassis was the perfect platform as it provided some basic stability and ability to stop and start without tipping over, while still having a leaning function for the turns. The chassis build is mostly stock, with some modifications to the structure that the body normally mounts to to accommodate the limited width of the speeder bike. The POTF bike shell was modified extensively, removing a lot of plastic, and adding mounting features to attach to the frame. The setup was pretty straightforward, but I did find that I needed to reduce the servo travel speed to around 25% to prevent the bike from oscillating out of turns. The arm controls are driven by a 9g servo mixed into steering, so that the arms move as the bike leans. Overall it was a cool project that makes for an immersive FPV experience, but as always watch out for trees :)

As with all my builds, this is strictly for fun. I do not intend to sell any sort of kit based on this project, although I will be glad to answer questions about the build, and help anyone who is interested create their own. Do not upload my content as your own, and please provide proper attribution if you are sharing it. RC models are not toys. Build and operate at your own risk and in accordance with your local regulations. Fly smart, fly safe.
