Women sometimes have to face a very difficult time in their lifetime which might affect their reproductive potential. Women with cancers undergoing surgery or chemotherapy or radiotherapy which might affect their fertility they have to think about it and they'll have to consult a fertility specialist and they have to go for a ovarian cryopreservation technique. So thereby preserving their fertility and once their surgical chemotherapy or radiotherapies the cycles are completed they can get back the fertility specialist and then they can plan for conception. So this has revolutionized women are suffering from cancer and who are young and they haven't completed their family this is a boon for them so that they can preserve the ovary before the start of this cancer surgery or cancer chemotherapy or cancer radiotherapy. And now how do we remove this ovarian tissue for cryopreservation? So ovarian tissue cryopreservation we do small surgery like what we call laparoscopic surgery. It is a minimally invasive surgery we just do small incisions of 0.5 to 1 cm then go inside the abdomen we insert small tubes and through the use of cameras and Small Tube we just remove the ovary one ovary or sometimes part of two ovaries and we just require the ovarian cortex that is the egg forming tissue of the ovary so that will be immediately vitrified cryopreserved that means it will be freezed. So it will be freezed and it can be used later on whenever it is required. So this laparoscopic surgery is a minimal invasive surgery apart from the regular complications like infection and surgical problems or anesthesia risk due to any other surgery will be present. Apart from that it's a simple surgery and what after cryopreservation. After cryopreservation after the I olist freezes the ovary it can be stored freezed for many years. So the patient can come back once she has completely recovered once she wants to start her reproductive function she can come back. So once she comes back we will just again put it back inside the abdominal cavity again through laparoscopy we just raise a fold of peritoneum or a raise a fold of tissue layer inside the abdomen and place it it back and then suure it and come back. So in majority of the cases the ovary sticks on very well and the function starts rapidly after 3 to 6 months and if once she starts ovulating she can be subjected for IVF and she can have their own baby. So again the complications of this procedures are like regular complication of anesthesia surgery will be there like bleeding, infection and sometimes it can be a failure and sometimes we can reintroduce the cancer into the female especially in cases of blood cancer. So we have to be very careful we have to just study it's a teamwork we have to discuss with the oncologist and onocosurgeons before taking for ovarian cryopreservation and especially for such patients this is a boon.
