During the 1980s, two foreign powers France and Libya intervened militarily in the African country of Chad. During operations Manta and Epervier, the French Air Force (Armée de l'air) operated aircraft types such as Jaguar and MIrage F1. The Mirages were mainly responsible for maintaining air superiority and intercepting Libyan aircraft which approached or crossed the socalled Red Line between the government and insurgent forces. Several interesting close encounters with Libyan aircraft occurred and we will examine them in detail in this video.
