FrSky Ethos: Electric Ignition On/Off via switch

Follow
Steve Schlesinger

If you fly gas planes and use an electric ignition, it comes with something that looks like a servo connector. When it gets to +100 or somewhere close the ignition turns on, 100 or somewhere close the ignition turns off.

This was a viewer request video. The viewer wanted to have the back button on his X20/s or X18/s transmitter turn on or off the ignition. I first showed how to turn it on and off using a "logic switch" that is a "Sticky." You have to press the button once to turn the ignition on, and then once again to turn it off. I used SJ (back button on the right) to turn the ignition on and off.

The only problem I see with this is that you may accidentally turn off the ignition if you happen to press that button while flying, which would be a bummer.

I then showed how to use an out of the way switch, SG which is next to that momentary switch on the right side of the transmitter to turn to do the same thing. This one will be very difficult for you to accidentally turn off in flight. I showed you how to turn SG into a 2 position switch for all models, handy if you fly a lot of gas planes with ignition. If you don't want to permanently make that change, I showed how to make 2 of the 3 position switches 100 and the last one positive 100 with a custom curve.

Finally, none of this is very fun without assigning a voice to switch. I showed how to assign "Ignition On" and "Ignition Off" using a "special function."
