I am a rural girl in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. My father passed away early, and my mother got married when I was very young. I had to live with my grandparents since I was young.
Due to extremely difficult family circumstances. I had to get married very early when I was not yet 16 years old.
I was unlucky in that choice. It was a mistake when I married an alcoholic who only knew how to destroy and beat my wife and children. He took my last money to drink. When tolerance has reached its limit! I had to hug my son out of the house, it was so painful.
I wandered everywhere doing everything I could to make a living, from picking up scraps and selling junk, to harvesting fruits and vegetables to sell at the market to earn money to support my children. I have no place to stay and don't know where to go. There were times when I had to sleep in a banana leaf tent outside a stream, or in tattered apartments where the rain and wind penetrated. During these days of wandering, I met people who didn't like me, chased me away, and also met good people who enthusiastically helped me.
Luckily, after overcoming many storms, I found an abandoned bamboo house where I could temporarily stay.
Although the bamboo house is abandoned, it is very beautiful. Inside, there are some kitchen utensils left over from the house. I don't know who this homeowner is. I went around asking about the landlord but to no avail. So I decided to stay here temporarily.
In this bamboo house, I built a small garden to grow vegetables and raise chickens... Hopefully one day the garden will be good so I can harvest it.
Having experienced a lot of joy with this bamboo house, with the bamboo house overcoming the storms, I love it.
Then one day...Whatever happened happened. The owner of the bamboo house appeared and he was with the land buyer. He wants to sell this land. That's what I was most worried about. I'm about to leave and I don't know where I'm going yet.
When the owner of the bamboo house saw me and my child pitiful, he made a surprising decision: he did not sell the land but let me and my son live there. The Boss was so kind and helped me during my most difficult time.
The story doesn't end there...A stormy day has come. My exhusband accidentally saw me and he followed me home. He beat me and locked me and my son in the house. He took all my money, destroyed the house and garden. I had to run away from him again.
Once again having to wander, on the way I accidentally picked up a wallet and I brought the wallet back to its owner. And the great thing happened. The owner of the wallet is a beautiful and kind woman who loved me and helped me when I was most difficult. The woman's husband is a police officer. He was the one who called the authorities to arrest my alcoholic, destructive exhusband.
Once again I returned to this bamboo house. It's great that I'm stuck with it again. I hope that I will build a new, more beautiful life, a new beginning....
