From 11 August 2018, the State Hermitage will hold the exhibition “Furniture for a Body’s Every Whim”. It illustrates the Age of Historicism in Russia. It is devoted to the development of cabinetmaking between the 1820s and 1890s, when in the wake of Europe Russia saw the singular allembracing style of Classicism give way to a fascination with the art of different countries and peoples from the past known as the age of Historicism.
