An introduction to the Future Main Battle Tank or FMBT70 a series of designs between the UK and FRG that shaped both nations tank building policy of the time. FMBT was an integral part of the British tank building program in the Cold War, but though misinformation and time, much has been forgotten. This multipart series will step you though the design, the ideas, and the theories present at the time as well as why the program would ultimately end and the results of that.


Disclaimer: While many pictures and models of the vehicles drawn and, in some cases, tested survive, much more has been either lost or is not available. These include the people and sites, many of whom are still alive, and due to the secrecy of the project, photos of these meetings were not taken for security reasons. therefore, we have used a more simplified animation style to walk you through the instruction rather than just rely on generic and misplaced stock images, but we hope you like them.
