Gabrielle De Polignac Marie Antoinette's Best Friend: Yolande Martine Gabrielle de Polastron, the countess and later duchess of Polignac, was born on 8 September 1749 in Paris and died on 5 December 1793 in exile in Vienna. A friend and confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette, she was one of the most famous figures of the royal court during the reign of Louis XVI. She was also one of the most hated figures of the French Revolution, as she was the archetype of the idle aristocracy of the Ancien Régime.
