Gala Pie is a such a treat during the summer months, if you have a picnic. Made with hot water crust pastry, to give a sturdy pastry that can support heavy fillings. The filling for a Gala Pie is pork meat, and mine contains minced pork, lincolnshire sausagemeat, streaky bacon and cubes of ham. Inside the pork is a line of hard boiled eggs, so that each slice of pie contains meat and egg. This is perfect for picnics, or a cold lunch served with pickles and salad.
