The Galapagos Islands are an archipelago made up of more than 100 islands. They are found in the Pacific Ocean, 1000 kilometers from the continental coast of Ecuador, the country to which they belong.
Due to its historical isolation, dozens of endemic species developed there. That is, they are not found anywhere else in the world. Like giant tortoises, which can weigh 450 kilos and live for more than a century.
But Galapagos also witnessed incredible stories. Like the prisons, which functioned during two stages and on different islands. Or that of Manuel Cobos, known as the Emperor of San Cristóbal. Could it have been the germ of an independent state?
