From the heads up display, to the controller, to the combat, to the animations and acting, games have many ways to try and emulate pain. I also explain how the brain and the body create the sensation of pain in real life, and the fascinating medical conditions that defy our understanding of pain. I also detail how some games like The Last of Us Part 2 and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons emulate emotional pain in their own ways.
