Delicious Ukadiche Modak Recipe | Traditional Ganesh Chaturthi Treat

Welcome to our kitchen! In this video, we’re making Ukadiche Modak, a traditional Maharashtrian delicacy perfect for Ganesh Chaturthi. These soft, steamed dumplings are filled with a sweet coconut and jaggery mixture, making them a delightful treat loved by all.

Ingredients:

For the Dough:
1 cup rice flour
1 cup water
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp salt

For the Filling:
1 cup grated coconut
1/2 cup jaggery, grated
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1 tbsp ghee

Instructions:

Prepare the Dough: Boil water with salt and ghee. Add rice flour and mix thoroughly. Cook until the dough comes together. Let it cool slightly before handling.

Prepare the Filling: In a pan, heat ghee, then add grated coconut and jaggery. Cook the mixture until it thickens and the jaggery is fully melted. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

Assemble the Modaks: Grease your hands with a little ghee. Take a small portion of dough, flatten it into a circle, and place a spoonful of the coconut filling in the center. Carefully shape it into a modak.

Steam the Modaks: Place the modaks in a steamer, making sure they don’t touch each other. Steam for 1015 minutes until they’re cooked and firm.
