GARGAÚ BEACH | Mangrove Forest, Lagoon and Wind Energy.

Following the videos recorded in the Costa Doce Region, on the north coast of Rio de Janeiro, I am in the bucolic Gargaú Beach to show its beach and beautiful lagoon, with its classic boats, its important mangrove and the First Wind Generating Plant of the Southeast Region.

Gargaú is a neighborhood of São Francisco de Itabapoana/ RJ, just south of the coast, next to the Paraíba River Delta and It is recognized for its important mangroves and strong winds, important for wind studies, in addition to the picturesque beach.

Gargaú remained isolated for a long time, such as Guaxindiba Beach (São Francisco de Itabapoana/RJ) and Atafona Beach (São João da Barra/RJ), which only recently become fashionable resorts for families in northern Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.

The architectural heritage of the district is formed by mansions from the 1950s. A bucolic place, with great natural beauty and it is an itinerary for that tourist who wants a direct contact with nature.

Gargaú has the First Wind Generating Plant in the Southeast region: Gargaú Wind Farm.

Built in 2010, near the mangrove of Gargaú and it has enough capacity to supply a city of 80,000 inhabitants.

In all, there are 17 wind towers, each 120 meters high.

The Gargaú lagoon is part of a complex of restinga lagoons belonging to the Paraíba do Sul River.

Travel Tips:
= Excellent place to practice kitesurfing, due to the good winds provided there.

Curiosities about Wind Energy:
Wind energy is produced from the movement of propellers installed in towers, which drive a generator and produce electric current.

Several mechanisms like this are linked to a power transmission plant forming a wind farm.

The amount of energy produced by each turbine varies according to the size of its propellers and the wind regime in the region where it is installed.

Wind generation does not generate waste and requires a very small area for the installation of wind turbines.
