Documentary about the Gemini 5 mission, a longduration flight (eight days, the length of time required to complete a lunar mission). The Gemini capsule and program are presented, followed by the crew. Specific spacecraft modifications for this mission are shown, as well as the planned scientific experiences. Extensive training and preparation sequences (silent) follow, giving an almost daybyday account of the preparation. The flight is then followed day by day, based on the astronaut remarks, photos taken that day, and experiments performed.
There's little actual cockpit footage from Gemini V, so simulations and some sequences from other flights were used.

Besides the usual color correction, some footage segments were upscaled using AI (Topaz AI). Ambient audio was recreated based on historical elements. Sequences are shown in proper mission context as much as possible.

Historical narration (from postflight presentations, mission commentary, and period documentaries) is used in an attempt to capture the feeling of the times. Language and attitudes should be seen in that context.

Gemini 5 (officially Gemini V, also referred to as GT5) was a 1965 crewed spaceflight in NASA's Project Gemini. It was the third crewed Gemini flight, the eleventh crewed American spaceflight (including two X15 flights above 100 kilometers (54 nmi)), and the nineteenth human spaceflight of all time.

It was also the first time an American crewed space mission held the world record for duration, set on August 26, 1965, by breaking the Soviet Union's previous record set by Vostok 5 in 1963. This record might have been one day longer; however, Gemini V was cut short, due to the approach of Hurricane Betsy.
