Made by General Electric just after WWII and directed by Ray Culley, "The World's Largest Electrical Workshop" examines G.E.'s research and manufacturing facilities including at Bridgeport and Providence, where electrical generation and distribution equipment is manufactured, and where new technologies including better lighting, advancements in radio and television, and a myriad of other electronic and electric devices are developed.

As the narrator says: The march is on, the steady march of a new peacetime army, in the quest for a better way of living. Men, money, knowledge, research machines, visions carefully painstakingly perfecting which contribute to man’s mastery of his destiny. At mark 1:45, a little girl asks her grandpa what electricity is. At mark 2:26 is Dr. Willis Whitney the man who established the G.E Research Laboratory, says "discovery and inventions are first starting point from which we sort for new knowledge." (Willis Rodney Whitney (August 22, 1868 – January 9, 1958) was an American chemist and founder of the research laboratory of the General Electric Company) . At mark 2:35 is also Dr. Irving Langmuir whose research in chemistry won a Nobel prize. At mark 2:55 is Dr. E.W Alex Anderson a host of major contributions to electrical progress; he developed the alternator. At mark 3:15 is Dr. Albert Cole and Dr. W.D Coolidge who developed ductile tungsten for lamp filaments, he is also famous for modern Coolidge also, the heart of modern X ray. Dr. Saul. Dushman is seen at mark 3:50 whose research with photoelectric cell and sodium vapor lamp. At mark 4:14 is Dr. Lukish who investigated better lighting for seeing.

At mark 4:30, the G.E research lab carries out experiments for the betterment of the economy. They are referred as University of Light. Hundreds of thousands of dollars and time have been put into the training of these youngsters. At mark 6:40 factories of General Electric are seen in all major countries of the world. At mark 7:30 a foundry is shown where electrical equipment is made. Accurate knowledge of science is necessary here. General Electric’s electric furnace is seen at mark 8;45. In operations like this, safety of the workers is important, mark 9:34.

At mark 10:00 parts of a turbine are beaten into shape. Here men and machine work together to bend steel, at mark 10:50, an asbestos clad worker is exposed to high heat. At mark 1:34, is the largest machine shop in the world, 5 stories high and almost half a mile long. At mark 13:30, the generator rotor is fix together with microscopic accuracy. At mark 14:10 is General Electric’s newest turbine power plant which uses coal more efficiently.

At mark 14:52 is the wood alloy which plays an important role in electrics, so does ceramics as seen at mark 14:58. At mark 15:20, high tension insulators are produced. At mark 15:50 is a craftsman making electrical insulators with high standards of craftsmanship. A huge electrical insulator is seen at mark 16:30. Measuring instruments must be accurate as seen at mark 17:20. At mark 17:40 is copper wire which are wound on a single spool. At mark 19:49, skilled women are shown making insulating coils.
G.E is an organization of trained highly skilled people as seen at mark 21:00. Electricity has made life easy for the workmen and their families. At mark 22:45, electric cookers are made. At mark 24:00, gas cookers. At mark 24;58, compressors for refrigerators made by the thousand. At mark 26:40, refrigerator cabinets are sealed together. At mark 27:30, the refrigerator doors are made in mass production. The pace is steady and not too fast as seen at mark 28:00. Scientist Chris Easley (sp?) at mark 28:50 who has contributed more than any man to refrigerator designing. At mark 29:10 are skilled workmen working on television parts..

In the last 60 years electricity has benefited the life of everyone.. General Electric is dedicated to this service to mankind and so the march goes on.
