In this tutorial, we delve into visualizing annual precipitation raster using CHIRPS (Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station) data in Google Earth Engine. 1. Loading Country Boundaries: We begin by importing country boundaries data from the U.S. Department of State's LSIB dataset. Focusing on China, we filter and center the map view accordingly.
2. Inserting CHIRPS Data: Next, we incorporate CHIRPS precipitation data, specifically targeting pentad (5day) intervals for the period between January 1, 2023, and January 1, 2024.
3. Reducing Image Collection: We streamline the image collection by summing the 365 daily raster, thus obtaining an annual precipitation raster.
4. Setting Visualization Parameters: To enhance clarity, we establish visualization parameters, defining minimum and maximum values along with a color palette to represent varying precipitation levels.
