George Best went to Hamburg to play in Uwe Seeler's farewell game. Europe XI that faced Seeler's Hamburger SV had players like Franz Beckenbauer, Eusébio, Gianni Rivera, Gerd Müller, Dragan Džajić and Bobby Moore, but Best stood out even in that company.

The Irishman scored once, especially coming to life in the second half, treating the public to multiple feints, dribbles and skilful touches. Funnily enough, George Best also retired just a few weeks after that game — for the first time, aged only 26. He came back not long after.
