Georgia requires businesses to collect sales taxes on taxable sales. Georgia has a statewide tax rate of 4%, and most counties will have a local sales tax rate ranging between 35%.

The sales tax return (Form ST3) can be submitted and paid electronically or, in some cases, paper filed for smaller taxpayers. In this example, we look at a new food truck operating in Georgia that needs to collect sales taxes on its food sales.
