In May 2014, a little orphaned rhino, who was found next to his mother's body, who had been killed for her horn, was brought into the care of our team at Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, in South Africa.

His story captured so many people's hearts, and he grew up so quickly. He is a grand, healthy young rhino now, and is still spending most of his time with Matimba, another orphaned rhino, that arrived a few months after Gertjie.
