Today's video is all about prepping for braids, twists, or any protective style using synthetic hair or kanekalon fibers. Most synthetic hair is coated in an alkaline lye that is intended to protect the hair to be more heat resistant, however, this coating typically causes irritation for most wearers. It can cause your scalp to become extremely dry, itchy, and irritated (contact dermatitis). In the video, I show you how to use apple cider vinegar to remove the alkaline coating and clean your hair in preparation for your protective style.
