Attorney Joseph Simons talks with a client about trying to get a criminal case to trial. The client lives in the Dominican Republic and is unable to legally enter the United States. He is willing to waive his right to be physically present at trial, and initially a judge allowed his request to appeal via zoom. The judge later reversed her decision, and now we are appealing it to the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. Without the ability to get to trial, not only is the client unable to get justice, but also the alleged victim(s) and witnesses are perpetually waiting for a resolution that may never come.
