GIS Software Tutorial: Creating 3D Scene Layer Objects from 2D for use in Games

Follow
GIScience

Class is in session! In this tutorial, I'll show you how you can take twodimensional vector features and convert them into multipatch features and publish them to ArcGIS Online as 3D scene layer packages. This is a somewhat more advanced topic However, the motivation for this lesson is for you to be able to create your own 3D content that you can use in development of GISbased video games using tools like the ArcGIS SDK for Unity. This can also be a use for a lesson if you generally just want to learn how to go about the basic process of converting twodimensional vector features to 3D using techniques such as extrusion and ArcGIS Pro tools that can convert 3D objects to multipatch features.
This lesson was taken from my teaching at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
