Glaucoma is an eye condition that can lead to blindness due to increased pressure within the eye. There are two major types of glaucoma: openangle and angleclosure. This animation goes over the eye anatomy of what happens with both types of glaucoma. Also, a brief explanation of how a tonometer measures eye pressure is shown at the end.
Glaucoma is of particular concern in the ENT world with any type of facial fracture involving the eye (can cause traumatic glaucoma).
Produced by Dr. Chang who does not evaluate for glaucoma, but refers patients to ophthalmology if there is glaucoma concern. This animation produced for educational purposes only.
