Glaucoma is a set of eye disorders caused by increased intraocular pressure (IOP), which damages the optic nerve, potentially leading to vision loss (blindness).
Treatment of glaucoma includes surgery, such as selective laser trabeculoplasty, or a trabeculectomy.
Angleclosure glaucoma (also called narrowangle or closedangle glaucoma) can be treated with medications and a laser iridotomy or iridectomy.
Medications include alpha agonists, beta blockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, cholinergics, prostaglandin analogs, and rho kinase inhibitors.
This video also discusses eye drop administration, punctal occlusion, and postop glaucoma surgery patient education.
