Odessa Primus interviews Farahnaz Ghodsinia, President of the 10th National Youth Parliament of the Philippines

Farah, June 20th:
"Sadly, the conflict back in my hometown is still ongoing. Reports still show airstrikes being launched, and bombs dropping.
We have already carried initial relief aid towards those families in evacuation centers... But! :( I know that this is not enough. This is temporary aid. Lasting solutions need to be implemented in a systemic manner. But I understand this will not happen too unless the terror/rebel groups surrender.
I know this is a sad update, but it is what it is. Hopefully this conflict will not drag on and we can get back to the negotiating table and the peace talks."

Bio: Farahnaz comes from an ethnic and religious minority in the Mindanao region, southern Philippines. She works to prevent conflict and build peace through quality education and interfaith dialogue in fragile regions. She founded “Children of Mindanao”, a socialcivic venture that provides educational assistance to both Muslim and Christian groups in southern Philippines. Farahnaz was elected as President of the 10th National Youth Parliament of the Philippines, which is the largest parliamentary gathering of young leaders in her country. Over the years, Farahnaz worked in various international programmes, the most recent of which was the WISE Learners Voice Program. In 2017, she was included in Lifestyle Asia’s “30 Young Gamechangers”.
