Nathan rebuked David for despising the word of the Lord in killing Uriah so that he could marry Bathsheba, and he also pronounced a sentence for each of his sins against Uriah and Bathsheba.
Forgiveness does not mean the removal of the consequences of sin. If consequences were eliminated by a simple act of repentance, then justice would become ineffective. Then the questions remains How can I erase the guilt? How do I find courage and strength to deal with the consequences?
