In past weeks I've shown how I think about composition & doing a drawing from a photograph. But a number of viewers said, "But, what about showing how to turn that drawing into a painting?"
Three weeks ago, I did a drawing of the Brecon Beacon in Wales ( • What to Plan Before Painting . So, this week, I turn that drawing into a painting. I demonstrate my painting process so you can get a sense of what that was like, and then I show you the final painting.
You can see the original photograph, the drawing, and the finished painting all have the intended structure of a long curve over to the far left. It has that nice sense of overcast in the Welsh landscape.
In the future, if I see an image, do drawing of it, and I really like it, I'll do a painting from it and share that process with you.
Next, week I talk about an iconic, historic work that you could make a movie about.
I hope you enjoy.
