Our first full day in Switzerland and we took the morning off due to the rain, but we couldn't wait all day so decided to pull on our waterproofs and head up along the valley to the Simplon Pass which takes you into Italy. The climb up the pass, although great was spoiled by the low clouds and as we hit the top of the Pass it was a total wipeout with fog.

We ploughed on over the pass and dropped into Italy where the weather could not have been more different. Lovely sun and baking hot. We stopped in a lovely village for some lunch before heading back over the pass and back to the hotel. The weather had improved a little and we finally could see more of the lovely views at the top of the pass. We would be back later in the week to enjoy this great pass again.
