Reviewing Google's Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL camera, an upgraded dual lens shooter, after a week of testing. Here's how the new optics compare with last year's flagship, boasting better HDR+ smarts for shooting photos although not much has changed on the video front.

The Pixel 4 handsets once again deliver one of the best mobile cameras for capturing pics, with pointandshoot ease. There's no pro mode but you can grab greatlooking photos in tricky conditions, thanks to Google's smart software. Night shots are at least as good as you'll get from the iPhone 11 and most other rivals, while the portrait mode also impresses.

My video tests showed that the Pixel 4 XL and its smaller sibling haven't evolved much however. You once again max out at 4K 30FPS, although the image stabilisation is still strong. You can now zoom in using that second lens without losing much detail, up to 6x in total.
