Organisations representing exoffenders are calling on the government
to create simplified systems to remove criminal records.

The complicated and prolonged application systems currently used,
subject exoffenders to undue stigma, especially for those who have
served their sentences, according to one activist.

Justice Minister Thembi Simelane reports that over 19 000 expansion
certificates were issued in the 2023/2024 financial year.
