The Great Smoky Mountains (also known as The Smokies) is a mountain range in the south of the Appalachians, on the border between North Carolina and Tennessee, in the east of the United States. The highest point in the park is Clingmans Dome, which is 2025 meters high. The name comes from the mist that often hangs over the tops of the mountains.

A large part of the mountains are protected in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
