What happens when you come for a handover after your horse has been in training at Your Horsemanship? Cassius has been with me for just over a week, after getting a bit too big for his boots for his owner, Rhi, who also bred him.

I went through some ground handling exercises and tips so she can maintain respect and personal space on the ground, before taking her for a ride round the farm to work through planting and napping issues that were starting to creep into his ridden work. The work going through the water was a good test of their partnership.

Cassius is rising 5, and they very often go through a phase when they test their rider at this age. However, I am confident that with a few more tools in Rhi's kitbag now, she'll be able to progress with Cassius on a positive footing.
