As a former superfan of Rockstar Games who still plays San Andreas TO THIS DAY, I am not a fan of the new direction that they have taken with their games which moves away from player agency and towards very heavy scripting. The freedom of the open world is gone and I have no confidence in their writing after the atrocious GTA V, BUT, the hype around the trailer made me go back and examine the hype surrounding past GTA games.
