In this this 5th episode of the series GUYANA, the News Room’s Neil Marks travels to the village of Highbury, Berbice where the first set of East Indians landed on My 5th, 1838. The visit inspired him to look for his own relatives who came from India, tracing back his heritage to a 20yearold woman from Uttar Pradesh and a 19yearold man from Punjab who boarded a ship in Calcutta and were assigned to the sugar plantation at Anna Regina when they landed here.
